The Holland Family

The Holland’s little twins are really growing up! I pulled into our location to find that Rita already had her family there getting unloaded and prepped for pictures. My kind of clients! This is the second time I’ve gotten to shoot the Holland family and she always does a great job of coordinating their outfits. I like that their not identical, but they all go together. Their kids are so cute and have such a good disposition. Little L never quite got used to the camera I always brought near her, but her brother was OK with me after a while. I always enjoy getting the kids to warm up to me and befriending them. Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

The Cobbs Family

Josh and Jenny are long time friends of ours from Prestonwood Baptist Church.  They met and got married about a year before Halie and me. This was our second attempt at some “field” pictures. The first time there were bugs or itchy plants that made for a very short session. Both of their little ones were in much better spirits this time! They were really hamming it up for the camera. Jenny’s parents came to help pull out the smiles. Her dad was so funny he was making me laugh! Jenny is 34 weeks pregnant with their 3rd child, so I’m glad we got these done in time. Don’t you just love the warmth in these pictures?

November 22, 2009 - 4:52 pm Jenny Cobbs - Steve, We LOVE our pictures! Thank you so much for capturing these precious memories:) We'll be calling on you again after #3 arrives!

Boo!

Is she scary or what?  My wife, Halie, came home with this costume from Canton where they have First Mondays or something like that.  It’s like a flea market where you can get a lot of cool things.  I’m not sure if this was sold as a costume or something she pieced together.  I call it her Zebra Ballerina coBaby Halloween Pictures by Dallas Children's Photographer Steven Hodgsonstume.  Anyway, I think she looks really cute in it — whatever it is.

Cooper Family

They grow up so fast. It wasn’t but a little over 7 months ago that I was photographing Andy and Michelle with their little boy, Ryan. He was just sitting up then. Now you can hardly keep him in one place!

Christmas Cards for 2009

It is almost November which means it’s time to start thinking about ordering your Christmas cards.  If you haven’t had your pictures taken yet, there is still time!  Contact me to schedule a time.  If you’ve already had your pictures taken, I still have them – just let me know which one you want to use.  If you prefer, you can send me a different picture to use for a $10 editing fee.

This year I’m offering some high-quality Christmas cards. These double-sided cards are 5×7″ or 5×5″ and are press printed on pearl paper (say that 3 times fast!). They are nice and heavy with a bit of shimmer – sure to leave a lasting impression on all those who receive them.

The cards are $2.00 each and include envelopes.  There is a 30 card minimum order.  Note: all cards have a place to put your family’s name, although it may be on the back side.

Martel Family

Transplanted from Canada, the Martel family is not lacking for any southern charm.  They are one of the nicest families I’ve been able to work with.  Joshua, their 2.5 year old, was so well behaved.  He loved the camera and any mention of McDonald’s chicken mcnuggets immediately elicited a smile.  And by the way, Joshua has already learned one of life’s great lessons – chicken mcnuggets taste best when dipped in honey.

October 28, 2009 - 8:05 pm Shona - Great pictures of sweet friends of ours! You really captured their fun personalities! I am still spreading your info around!

Happy Birthday Tripp!

Tripp turns 1 year old this week. He is growing up so fast, but he’s turning into a handsome young man! He’s not quite walking yet, but will stand up if he can hold on to something. He had a lot of fun just exploring the park and picking up leaves and things. His “Gamma” was such a trooper in helping to carry all of Tripp’s toys and belongings while his mom helped him get into position. Thanks Sue and Ashley!

October 24, 2009 - 6:24 pm alisha - Not sure if I've tracked down the right Steven, but if so, THANK YOU for the blog comment. :)

Where does the time go?

My sweet little girl is turning 5 months in just a few days.  It seems like only yesterday we were new parents bringing her home from the hospital.  We were sleep deprived and all the other cars were traveling too close to us.  Cambry has been a joy to our lives.  She is such a good baby.  She eats well, sleeps well, and is very easy going.  It is so fun watching her develop and figure out new “tricks” every few days.  I keep telling her to slow down and not be in such a rush to grow up, but she doesn’t listen.  She grows anyway.  I love you baby girl!

October 21, 2009 - 6:43 pm David Morehead - I love the shots of your baby. I am curious, which aperture do you use? I just bought a Canon 50 1.4 and haven't had a chance to try it out very much. Are you shooting wide open at 1.4 or using somehwere in the F2.0-F2.8 range? Thanks, Dave

October 21, 2009 - 6:49 pm Steven Hodgson - Thanks. :-) This was shot with the Canon 50 1.4. I used f/2.0. I don't think it's quite as sharp wide open.

November 2, 2009 - 2:23 pm Sarah Cooper - Precious little doll!
